Assessing Leaf Morphometric Symmetry of Four Chinese Quercus Species in a Mixed Forest

نویسندگان

چکیده

(1) Background: Oaks have achieved notoriety for sufficient levels of sympatric species richness allowing hybridization, thus generating substantial phenotypic variation. Leaf fluctuation asymmetry is an important attribute, as it reflects not only genetic variability but also buffering capacity. (2) Methods: We investigated the diversity four-oak (Quercus acutissima, Q. variabilis, fabri, and serrata var. brevipetiolata) using leaf geometric morphometric analysis. Eight morphological indicators (length, width, perimeter, area, left right areas, areal ratio, normalized symmetry index) were used to determine hybridization level, whereas bilateral assess environmental adaptation; (3) Results: Phenotypic variation ranged from 1.54 29.35 folds significantly diverged among studied species. Taxonomically in Section Quercus (Q. fabri are lower than those Cerris acutissima variabilis) with good symmetry. The index variabilis had a larger range variation, indicating better adaptability; (4) Conclusions: presume that less high level heterozygosity; however, this assumption requires further verification. observed combination factors.

Leaf traits and tree rings suggest different water-use and carbon assimilation strategies by two co-occurring Quercus species in a Mediterranean mixed-forest stand in Tuscany, Italy.

We compared the water-use characteristics of co-occurring mature Quercus cerris L. and Quercus pubescens Willd. trees growing in resource-limited (mainly water) hilly habitats in Tuscany, Italy. The species differed in their distribution along soil water gradients and in their access to, and use of, water, even though the study year was wetter than average, though with a summer drought. Compare...

Object-Based Classification of UltraCamD Imagery for Identification of Tree Species in the Mixed Planted Forest

This study is a contribution to assess the high resolution digital aerial imagery for semi-automatic analysis of tree species identification. To maximize the benefit of such data, the object-based classification was conducted in a mixed forest plantation. Two subsets of an UltraCam D image were geometrically corrected using aero-triangulation method. Some appropriate transformations were perfor...
